Founded in 2022, Thomas Scott & Co are an independent sell-side M&A firm specialising in the sale of SMEs in the UK. Thomas Scott & Co was established to provide excellent service to profitable and family owned businesses, working with the owners on a short to long term basis helping them plan and execute a sale. Through their growth, Thomas Scott & Co has developed a database of actively searching acquirers from strategic to institutional parties. To date Thomas Scott & Co has worked with over 250 businesses in variety of industries ranging from hospitality to commercial services.

Our Story

Founded in December 2022 by Jack and Brett who have been both best friends and business partners for many years. They set out with a vision of making an impact on the SME brokerage industry focusing on achieving better client outcomes through leveraging their expertise in digital marketing allowing them to stay one step ahead of the competition at all times.

Jack and Brett have known each other since the age of 11 progressing through both school and college together. Throughout their friendship, Jack and Brett have had a deep passion for the professional service sector initially focusing on wealth management and estate agency. After focusing on their marketing agency and creating a successful foundation, the pair chose to shift their focus into mergers and acquisitions as they saw a great opportunity for growth due to the market currently being underserviced and dominated by a few large players which don’t put their clients first.

They decided to start Thomas Scott & Co which they established to support profitable and family run businesses in establishing their succession plan and making successful exits. Since its establishment, the pair have built a well-respected team around them, who come from diverse backgrounds from both corporate to ex-business owners. The company is now chaired by Brian Minister who has had in excess of 30 experience in hospitality and leisure M&A allowing him to guide Thomas Scott & Co with his deep understanding of the industry.

Brett and Jack aim to establish Thomas Scott & Co as one of the leading independent M&A advisors in the UK supporting businesses which are valued in excess of £1,000,000, alongside this the pair have a vision to build a professional service network around this operating in sectors such as Accountancy and wealth management.

Meet the senior team

The key leaders in Thomas Scott & Co

Brian George Minister, Chairman of Thomas Scott & Co has been in Mergers and acquisitions for over 30 years. Brian specialises in financing and M & A activities in the hospitality industry. In addition to being the Chairman of Thomas Scott & Co, Brian runs Casinos of Mayfair International, the world’s largest casino and hotel brokerage. Prior to the establishment of Casinos Of Mayfair International, Brain was on the senior leadership team of multiple casino chains.

 

Since establishing Casinos of Mayfair International he has worked with in excess of 200 Casinos and Hotels with his biggest deal being valued in the region of $20 billion and over 60 current instructions with one of the most notable being a prestigious chain of hotels and casinos in Europe, a deal with a valuation of 3.8 Billion Euros. Brian has established offices across the globe with offices for Casinos of Mayfair International in London, Spain and Las Vegas so has an understanding of the industry on a global scale.

Brett ‘Scott’ Sanderson Cert CII has been Managing Director of the business since inception and currently leads the private client division focusing on international acquirer networking and the sourcing and securing of new transactions across the UK. Brett brings previous experience in both marketing and financial services with him previously working within the financial services sector followed by the ownership of a marketing agency. He brings a wealth of knowledge in advising business owners across a wide range of sectors focusing on succession planning for family run SME’s.

His experience includes, Co-founding Mainstage Media which is marketing agency primarily servicing high ticket industries, the businesses goal from creation was to provide owners with a hands off approach to marketing and focus on created unique brand IP’s, this is where he developed his personalised approach to customer service focusing on long term relationship building, and working for a St James Place Partnership Practice, in his time at St James Place he achieved his Cert CII and also platinum accreditation internally which is an achievement he is incredibly proud of.

Brett Holds an advanced Diploma in Business graduating at the top of class with triple distinction*, he also holds his Cert CII from the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Jack ‘Thomas’ Freeman, Co-founder and Director of Sales has been with the firm since inception. He specialises in Sell-Side M&A and Capital Raises, he works predominantly with businesses with valuations of £1m to £10m covering a spectrum of sectors as well as this Jack focuses primarily on helping multi-generational businesses with long term exit planning.

Before Thomas Scott & Co he successfully Co-founded a digital marketing company, they specialised in high-ticket industries with clients consisting primarily of SMEs. Prior to this he worked in digital marketing for Byter, a leading London based marketing agency as well as this Jack was contracted to support a leading education event in MENA for Tarsus. When in college he studied business studies and graduated for the BTEC Extended Diploma with a d*d*d.

One of Jack’s achievements is building out an internal database and outreach technology allowing us to outreach to prospective acquirers and sellers through a variety of methods including direct email, postal mail and phone. He also serves as an external Director at the Letting Supermarket, a leading lettings platform in the UK; aiding them in setting up commercial relationships and consulting on growth. Jack is passionate about learning and furthering his knowledge, with his long-term ambitions to complete his CFA and further his knowledge in corporate finance.

Thomas J Parr Cert CII (London Market), Associate Director of Thomas Scott & Co has been with the firm since near its inception. Thomas leads the firm’s commercial services division and has substantial expertise within the space gain throughout his time in industry, he focuses on generating new instructions across the United Kingdom and managing his team of sales executives.. He began his professional career in the Lloyds of London specialising in renewable energy insurance and rose his way up through the ranks having a settlement authority of up to $1,000,000.

In 2013, Thomas left the insurance market to focus on the construction industry joining Gray and Sons as part of their senior management team responsible for the oversight of project ranging from £5,000,000 and £10,000,000 in valuation, within this time he captivated a unique set of talents which lead him to become a consultant within the industry for multiple years working with many CEOs of major UK companies across the time. 

Tom is passionate about helping business owners achieve their target exit and working with them to structure their sales, he primarily works within the Commercial services with a core focus on commercial cleaning, facilities management and civil engineering.
