Spotless Commercial Cleaning Expands with Acquisition of Ashdown Cleaning

Spotless Commercial Cleaning, headquartered in Edinburgh, has recently finalized the acquisition of its English counterpart, Ashdown Cleaning, in a move that further solidifies its position in the UK market. The acquisition, made for an undisclosed sum from the retiring founder of Ashdown Cleaning, adds approximately 100 new staff to Spotless’ growing team and boosts its annual turnover beyond £20 million.

Founded in 2010 and based in Norwich, Ashdown Cleaning has cultivated a strong presence across Norfolk and East Anglia, serving a diverse clientele including office buildings, business parks, medical and dental practices, manufacturing facilities, and retail premises.

The acquisition of Ashdown Cleaning extends Spotless’ footprint in East Anglia, complementing its existing commercial cleaning contracts in the region. This strategic move follows Spotless’ previous acquisitions, including Manchester-based Purity Group and Salisbury-based Clearsprings Support Services Ltd, made last year.

Spotless, established in 1988 by Chairman Roger Green, now operates over 1,700 contracts nationwide, providing comprehensive cleaning services to blue-chip companies, retail outlets, industrial leaders, and premier commercial premises.

Commenting on the acquisition, Spotless CEO Carron Henley expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Ashdown Cleaning has established a strong base and an excellent reputation with its clients across Norfolk and the wider East Anglia area. We’re delighted to welcome their great people to the Spotless team as we look to growing our footprint across the region and in other parts of the UK.”

Spotless Chairman Roger Green added, “The office cleaning market is still in flux. Despite this, Spotless continues to go from strength to strength. This latest acquisition significantly enhances our market presence in East Anglia and builds on our growth strategy focused on expanding our presence to cover every UK postcode.”
